BPI’s #BestLifeRun Corporate Race 2025: Registration Now Open!

The much-anticipated BPI #BestLifeRun Corporate Race 2025 is officially opening its registration on March 1, 2025!

As the country’s first and only corporate-focused running event, this year’s race is set to be bigger and better, uniting professionals from various industries in the pursuit of fitness, camaraderie, and corporate wellness.

Grab Philippines Launches Green Programme, Promotes Sustainability for On-Demand Services


Manila, Philippines, 27 February 2025 – Leading superapp Grab Philippines officially launches its Green Programme, deepening its commitment to environmental sustainability. The initiative introduces a new toggle-on feature across Grab’s on-demand mobility and delivery services, allowing users to actively participate in environmental conservation efforts with strategic program partners Fostering Education & Environment for Development, Inc. (“FEED”), EcoMatcher Ltd, and the Keo Seima Wildlife Sanctuary Project. 

Through the Green Programme, Grab users have the opportunity to contribute to environmental conservation with each ride or delivery. For every GrabCar or GrabTaxi ride, users can donate PHP 2.00, while every GrabFood or GrabMart delivery allows for a contribution of PHP 1.00.

A key initiative of the program is a mangrove-planting project in Dulao Village, La Union. Manulife Philippines and Erwan Heussaff Launch Video Series with Tips on Healthy Cooking


MANILA, Philippines — Manulife Philippines celebrates National Heart Month with the launch of a special video series starring its brand ambassador, Filipino restaurateur and multi-awarded cultural storyteller Erwan Heussaff.

The video, now live on Manulife Philippines’ social media pages and YouTube, features Heussaff cooking up kinilaw, a raw tuna dish on top of a tangy sauce served with roasted vegetables, for a simple lunch date with wife Anne Curtis. The traditional recipe uses quality and easily accessible Filipino ingredients that promote heart health that can support longer, healthier lives.  

“We know from research that heart disease and diabetes are among our most feared critical illnesses in the Philippines, and these are heavily lifestyle-influenced diseases. It’s my ambition to show Filipinos that we can take practical steps to improve our health and reduce the chance of suffering from these diseases. This video series partnership with Manulife, which shows how simple things such as cooking with whole foods and choosing local ingredients, is a great way to get this message out there,” shared Heussaff.

A 2024 study conducted by Manulife Philippines found that many Filipinos still find it challenging to adopt and maintain a “healthy lifestyle.” Most respondents cited barriers such as healthy food being too expensive, less appetizing, or taking too much time to prepare, despite diet and nutrition being among their top priorities.”

Pru Life UK Supports International and Local Disaster Recovery Initiatives


Pru Life UK recently took part in recovery efforts for communities affected by typhoons and flooding in the Philippines and Thailand. 
In the Philippines, Pru Life UK extended support to children and their families recently affected by Typhoon Kristine by contributing Php 300,000 to Save the Children Philippines’ emergency response initiatives. The company also organised its in-kind donation drive for affected families in the Bicol Region, distributing essentials through the Project Banyuhay relief operations of the Rotaract Clubs of Rotary International District 3820. 
Pru Life UK also joined Prudence Foundation’s PRUVolunteers (PRUVols) Programme, bringing together employees from Prudential in Asia, Africa, and the United Kingdom to rebuild homes and restore infrastructure for communities affected by severe flooding in Sukhothai Province, Thailand. 
Prudence Foundation, established in 2011 as the community investment arm in Asia and Africa of Prudential plc, is committed to create better futures through initiatives that achieve sustainable, real-world impact and long-term resilience in the communities we operate in.

Through programmes like PRUVols, Prudence Foundation mobilises resources to provide meaningful support to communities while fostering collaboration across its regional network. This year’s programme was in partnership with Prudential Thailand and the Foundation of Older Persons Development (FOPDEV).
Pru Life UK employees including Kenneth Leyco, Rodel Caricativo, and Jerome Martillano, worked with regional volunteers to construct new homes, prepare drainage systems, and rebuild sanitation facilities.
Volunteers also participated in cultural exchange activities with the local community, including basket-weaving and traditional cooking workshops at Yang Sai Elementary School. 
The week-long initiative concluded with the turnover of houses, where beneficiaries received the keys to their newly rebuilt homes. Watch this to see more.
Kenneth Leyco, a Senior Training Specialist, described the experience as “life-changing, happy, and fulfilling.” He shared, “I learned so much, from carpentry techniques to cultural insights. It was humbling to work alongside people from diverse backgrounds, united by a common purpose. Seeing the beneficiaries’ joyful faces made every effort worthwhile.”
This sentiment was echoed by Senior Accounting Specialist Rodel Caricativo, saying, “Participating in this programme was a meaningful way to give back and connect with communities in need. It reinforced my belief that even small contributions can make a big difference.”
This year’s PRUVolunteers Programme in Thailand reflects the Prudence Foundation’s mission of strengthening communities by ensuring our support is both impactful and sustainable. It is a testament to its commitment in building community resilience and supporting vulnerable populations, particularly the elderly, who are often disproportionately affected by such natural disasters and climate change.

DTI Heightens Support for MSMEs and Consumer Welfare in Laguna

 
Laguna, Philippines—This month, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) continues its mission of empowering micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and protecting consumer rights through a series of significant initiatives that took place across the province.
 
Leading the line-ups of projects, the Kadiwa ng Pangulo program was launched to reinforce the DTI’s commitment to supporting local businesses, ensuring fair trade practices, and providing economic opportunities for entrepreneurs and consumers.
  
The program commenced on February 15 in San Pedro City. Along with DTI, other national government agencies, such as the Department of Agriculture, Department of Social Welfare and Development, Department of Labor and Employment, and Department of the Interior and Local Government, collaborated with the local government to promote the farm-to-consumer initiative.
 
The program aimed to provide Filipino consumers with affordable, high-quality agricultural products directly from local farmers. It also supported MSMEs by connecting them with manufacturers, cooperatives, and other players in the agricultural sector.
 
This initiative brought together 20 government-assisted local businesses from the CALABARZON region, offering various food and non-food products. This gave San Pedro residents access to affordable basic necessities and also empowered MSMEs by creating market opportunities, eliminating middlemen, and directly linking them with consumers.

Following this, the DTI office in Laguna, in partnership with Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC), launched the “Timbangan ng Bayan” project in Pakil, Laguna on February 18. The initiative aims to uphold consumer rights and promote fair trade practices by providing public markets with accessible and accurate weighing scales. These scales allow consumers to verify product weights, ensuring that buyers receive fair value for their purchases.
 
Held at the New Government Center in Pakil, the launch featured key representatives from the DTI-Laguna and the local government, all expressing their commitment to fostering transparency and protecting consumers from unfair business practices. The project primarily targets 4th, 5th, and 6th class municipalities, reinforcing DTI’s dedication to ensuring ethical trading standards in local markets.

On February19, the DTI-Laguna partnered with the CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) to conduct the first livelihood training program of the year in Bay, Laguna. Titled “Business Compliance and Workplace Efficiency: Registration, Licensing, and 6S,” the seminar gathered over 30 micro-entrepreneurs from CALABARZON, providing them with essential knowledge on business registration and licensing procedures, with a focus on the benefits of formal business registration.
 
The training also introduced the 6S methodology—Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety—which promotes workplace organization, efficiency, and safety. By adopting these practices, entrepreneurs can improve productivity, foster a healthier work environment, and increase overall business profitability.
 
Through these impactful initiatives, DTI-Laguna remains steadfast in its mission to empower MSMEs, promote fair business practices, and support economic growth in local communities. Home Credit Philippines Host PFIP Q4 Membership Meeting, Strengthens Commitment to DEIB


Home Credit Philippines (HCPH), the country’s leading consumer finance company, reinforced its commitment to fostering diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) by hosting the Philippine Financial & Inter-Industry Pride (PFIP) Q4 Membership Meeting and Fellowship Night.  
 
The event focused on DEIB innovations, strategies for overcoming challenges, and incorporating DEIB into organizational sustainability. It also gave an avenue for the induction of the organization’s new members, and the presentation of the third Philippine Bahaghari closeout report and the Rainbow Youth Academy Cycle 3 Updates.  
 
A key event highlight was a roundtable discussion titled Evolving Pride: The New Challenges and Opportunities for DEIB and Pride Network Leaders. Moderated by Russel Jude Patina, Senior Public Relations Manager and Vice President for External Affairs of the Pride Club at HCPH, the session featured distinguished panelists, such as Joseph Magadan, Delivery Lead Manager of Accenture Philippines; Josh Calzo, Co-Chair of Rainbow Lions Philippines at ING Philippines; April Soriano, Associate Client Services Manager–Core Recruiting & Service Excellence at IBM Consulting, and Janlee Dungca, Managing Director of Castro Communications.  
 
The panel explored critical topics, including the role of inclusive technology and data-driven DEIB strategies, overcoming barriers to DEIB success, aligning DEIB initiatives with organizational and ESG goals, and securing leadership and cross-functional support for the community.

In a Pride-DEI knowledge-sharing session done by Dacanay, the company’s efforts for workplace inclusion, its initiatives to push for gender equality and drive LGBTQIA+ advocacies, and its collaborations with organizations to strengthen its DEI policies and programs were highlighted.  
Strengthening DEIB strategies and leadership development 
The discussions emphasized the need for organizations to integrate DEIB as a core strategic priority to foster inclusivity and drive innovation. Panelists underscored the importance of leveraging data and key performance indicators to measure the impact of business resource groups. They also highlighted the value of enabling self-identification options, which provide organizations with insights into their diversity efforts. Regulatory frameworks, compliance, and technology were identified as critical drivers of DEIB initiatives. 
 
On leadership development, the panelists discussed actively involving and educating executives in DEIB efforts, ensuring they stay engaged through workplace inclusion data and reports. Leaders were encouraged to prepare for generational transitions by creating opportunities for younger generations, such as Gen Z and Gen Alpha, to lead the next wave of DEIB advocates. 
 
Supporting professional development and LGBTQ+ rights 
The event also highlighted initiatives supporting professional development and advancing LGBTQ+ rights. Attendees were encouraged to explore scholarship opportunities, such as the ASEAN Chevening Scholarship, which supports open-minded leaders committed to driving positive change in the Philippines. This scholarship provides comprehensive support, including tuition, living expenses, and other essential costs. 
 
The Right to Care Card, a significant milestone for LGBTQ+ rights, was also discussed. This program, launched in Quezon City, grants queer couples the legal right to make healthcare decisions for their partners. With plans to expand to other cities, the initiative aims to provide broader legal recognition and protections for the LGBTQ+ community. 
 
The event brought together nearly 100 representatives from PFIP member companies and organizations, including Aboitiz Power, Accenture, AIA Philippines, British Embassy, Coca-Cola, Cognizant, IBM Philippines, ING, JP Morgan Chase, Quezon City Gender and Development Council (QC-GAD Council), Shell, and many more. 
 
“We are grateful for the insightful discussions during this event, as they provide valuable learnings that will continue to guide our journey in strengthening DEIB at Home Credit. While we have implemented and sustained numerous DEIB initiatives, we recognize that much work still needs to be done.
