Driving Diversity in Data Science: FTW Teams Up with PLDT, Smart, and PSF

FTW Foundation has partnered with PLDT, Smart Communications, and the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) to enhance opportunities for women in the tech industry through data science training. This collaboration aims to drive diversity in tech by providing free upskill training in data science and analytics to women who otherwise wouldn't have access to such specialized education. “This partnership aligns with PSF’s mission to open doors of opportunities for all Filipinos, allowing more women to contribute to the country’s progress,” said Esther Santos, PSF President. “With the rising demand for data scientists, it's crucial that women have equal access to these opportunities. Our partnership with PLDT, Smart, and PSF empowers women to pursue high-skill roles in technology, addressing the gender gap in the industry,” added Cara Wilson, FTW Cofounder and Executive Director. Through this collaboration, PLDT, Smart, and PSF support FTW's mission to provide high-quality data science training. FTW has granted scholarships to over 440 women, with 30 more benefiting from this latest initiative. “Leading women toward tech careers and preparing them for the jobs of the future highlights our commitment to the country's digitalization,” said Gina P. Ordonez, PLDT and Smart Chief People Officer. Since its founding in 2018, FTW has been at the forefront of bridging the gender gap in tech, boasting a 77% new job placement rate and a 125% increase in earnings for its graduates. This partnership with PLDT, Smart, and PSF underscores a shared commitment to diversity and inclusion, contributing to UNSDG #10: Reduced Inequalities.
