Pandesal Survey: Duterte leading at 40% & followed by Poe at 21%,VP race led by Bongbong, followed closely by Leni & Chiz
The unique Presidential “Pandesal Survey” at 77-year-old, artisanal and pugon-style Kamuning Bakery Café in 43 Judge Jimenez Street corner K-1st Street, Kamuning, Quezon City was the first survey to come out in media in March with survey results showing Davao City’s anti-establishment Mayor Rodrigo “Digong” Duterte leading at No. 1 as reported by local and foreign media, followed by Senator Grace Poe at 21%. “Pan de Sal” comes from the Spanish words “bread with some salt”, it is a uniquely Filipino bread popular all over the Philippines for breakfast and all-day snacks.
In order to vote at Kamuning Bakery Cafe, a person has to order a presidential pandesal sandwich, such as Pan de Poe (corned beef pandesal sandwich), Pan de Binay (longganiza pandesal sandwich), Pan de Duterte (spicy burger pandesal sandwich), Pan de Roxas (chicken pandesal sandwich), Pan de Miriam (tuna pandesal sandwich) and Pan de Nada for “None of the Above” (ham and egg pandesal sandwich). Prices of each pandesal sandwich (with free coffee or chocolate drink) ranges from P150 to P165 pesos, with Pan de Duterte being the most expensive. The “Pandesal Survey” voting shall continue up to night time of May 9.
Kamuning Bakery Cafe owner Wilson Lee Flores added a sixth choice called “Pan de Nada” ham & egg pandesal with Brewed Coffee (using the cartoon of Mickey Mouse as image) for those who prefer “none of the above”. According to Kamuning Bakery Cafe, vote buying (pun intended) is not only allowed but encouraged here!!!
As of May 4, 2016 at the Pandesal Survey, Mayor Digong Duterte has a commanding lead at 40%, while Senator Grace Poe is second at 21%.
Formerly No. 3 ranked Vice-President Jejomar “Jojo” Binay has been eclipsed by a narrow margin by the new No. 3 Secretary Mar Roxas at 13%, and Binay now has 11%.
Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago and “Pan de Nada” or “None of the Above” are both tied at last place in this unique “Pandesal Survey”.
Vice-Presidential race: Bongbong consistently No. 1, Leni is rising, Chiz is close 3rd
In the informal survey by Kamuning Bakery Café staff in the restored old café and in the bakery store for the vice-presidential race, the No. 1 choice is Senator Bongbong Marcos by a comfortable margin, but rising in numbers at No. 2 is Congresswoman Leni Robredo.
Former front-runner Senator Chiz Escudero is No. 3 but very close to No. 2., while ranked No. 4 and also rising in numbers is Senator Alan Peter Cayetano.
Presidential “Pandesal Survey” of Kamuning Bakery Café in Quezon City (May 4, 2016)
558 Pandesal Sandwiches = 100%
Pan de Duterte 225 = 40%
Pan de Poe 116 = 21%
Pan de Roxas 73 = 13%
Pan de Binay 61 = 11%
Pan de Miriam 45 = 8%
Pan de Nada (None of the Above) 38 = 7%
Note: A businesswoman and Duterte supporter ordered 200 Pan de Duterte, asking that those pandesal sandwiches be given to the poor or needy, so we at Kamuning Bakery Café asked the help of nearby Sacred Heart Parish (Catholic Church), the Methodist church in Kamuning Road, the nearby People of Grace School and Barangay Kamuning to help distribute the 200 Pan de Duterte pandesal sandwiches. If we add this bulk order of 200 sandwiches, the Pandesal Survey results would result to Mayor Duterte winning by a bigger margin of 56%.
